Filmosophic overview of contemporary Turkish cinema

Cinema has always been a branch of art in which thoughts are transformed into images. Considering the images that cinema creates with the power it takes from thoughts, it is out of question to be separated from images. When it is accepted that cinema and philosophy are on the same plane, it will be seen that one of the common points between them is images. For this reason, cinema, which is an art, has always been an area of interest for philosophers. Apart from philosophers, cinema was also handled by theoretical directors and ideas were put forward on what cinema is and what it could be. The field of cinema philosophy was born in this way. The philosophy of "films thinking", which has gained an important place in the philosophy of cinema, has opened a new page especially with Daniel Frampton's filmosophy theory. Frampton claims that films can philosophize just like philosophical texts, and that they do this with cinematic elements. Thinking movies have a film-mind that is different from the human mind. The film-mind creates the movie-world through film-thinking, and this world is a different world from the real world. Filmosophy develops a new theory of film form by treating film as a way of thinking. In this study, first thoughts in the field of cinema philosophy were explained; The philosophy of "films thinking" has been studied and the concepts of film-mind, film-thinking and film-world, which are the foundations of Frampton's theory of filmosophy, have been examined in detail. In the last section, Independent Turkish Cinema is handled and explained what independent cinema is, how independent cinema emerged, Yeşilçam cinema before independent cinema, independent cinema and its differences from classical narrative cinema with its independent features. Then, the films selected from the Independent Turkish Cinema with a purposeful sampling were analyzed with Frampton's filmosophical analysis. It has been tried to determine with which cinematic components and how the films that carry out the act of thinking about movies in the Independent Turkish Cinema make philosophy.
