Analysis of the correlation between satisfaction with life, occupational burnout and religious coping among working individuals

Stress, wear and occupational burnout among working individuals are on the rise along with individualization and decreasing socializing in modern age which in turn affects individuals' satisfaction with life. İndividuals use various methods to try and cope with the stress and burnout they suffer. Since religion and faith are significant facts for most individuals, they use their religious attitudes and thoughts as a means of coping. The purpose of the present study is to study the correlation between individuals' satisfaction with life, burnout level and religious coping ways as well as analyzing whether their satisfaction with life, burnout level and religious coping ways have differentiated in respect to demographic variables (gender, marital status, age, education attainment, occupation, duty term and monthly income level). Simple random sampling method has been used to determine the study group. 286 people has been designated with online and face to face method. 'Occupational Burnout Scale' produced by Maslach and Jackson and translated into Turkish by Ergin (1992), 'Satisfaction With Life Scale' produced by Diener, Emmons, Larsen and Griffin (1985) and translated into Turkish by Dağlı and Baysal (2016), and 'Religious Coping Scale' have been used in the study. As a result of the study a statistically significant correlation has been found between satisfaction with life and positive religious coping. Levels of satisfaction with life, occupational burnout and religious coping methodsshow statiscally signifant difference with respect to demographic variables.
