Working women's home and business oriented issues-Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality instance-

Women's position in social structure, their being in work life and in which circumstances they will be are current issues from the past up to now. After the Industrial Revolution women's status changed and with the impact of this change differentiations in traditional perception have been observed. As a result of World War I and II, women have been seen in the field of work life more. Women, who have gone through different processes in history in this sense, were obliged to undertake two different roles as a result of both the differences in social structure and the developing economic conditions. In their house life, they are trying to form their family relations, whereas in their work life, they are trying to form their career life. Women, who are trying to cope with these responsibilities, are sharing responsibilities with both their family members and colleagues. Whilst these sharings sometimes end positively, sometimes they bring different problems. However, it is a fact that sharing of responsibilities among family members is necessary for the continuity of the family and building up family bonds. The practices that will be done in the context of social services by raising the work potential of the women in work life will also raise the welfare of the country. Moreover, these factors will help women to be successful and peaceful. Especially, we can indicate that the development in the practices for working mothers is an important factor for the continuity of the young population. However, these practices should be done by giving equal rights to all the working mothers. In present day, working women because of the living conditions getting difficult anf future anxiety, don't want to leave work life and thus this leads them to push the matter of fact of having a child into the background. From this point of view, particularly the difficulties women face because of environmental and social causes in metropolitan cities like Istanbul is tried to put into words. Both the reasons why the women who work in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality are in work life and what kind of problems they face in business and in their houses are discussed. A face-to-face survey study has been made with 150 women employees who are selected from 95 directorship in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as a sample for this study and by evaluating the results of the given answers some conclusions and suggestions to create awareness are tried to be included.
