Factors affecting business performance in working life: AltInova shipyards zone example

Human element played an important role in competitive economies in production, forcing them to significant improvements in using human resources effectively and efficiently. The main source of human performance and productivity of organizations, to achieve the purpose of the organization is the most important characteristic. Shipyards appears to be an important sector in the last ten years in Turkey's economy by showing rapid development because of high employment figures. In parallel with the rapid development in the sector of shipyard, employees ' performances also began to draw attention. This work was carried out for the purpose of determine the factors affecting business performance in the working life on Altınova shipyards zone employees and examining and measurement of levels of awareness of the factors that affect the performance of employees in Altınova shipyards zone. There are 40 shipyards which have activity permit in Altınova Shipyard Zone. Eight of them runs actively and they have 5350 workers totally. A survey was conducted in this shipyards running actively, for the year 2012, in June and July, about the factors affecting the measurement of levels of awareness of employees performance and factors affecting the performance of business. The survey was applied to 621 employee with sampling. All poll results were analyzed with "SPSS 11.5 for Windows" computer environment statistics program and was evaluated given answers by cross-comparing. As a result, having been revealed the factors influencing business performances of employees who are in shipyard sector that high contribution to the economy of the country.
