Abstract (EN)

The purpose of earthquake hazard analysis; It is to estimate the seismic activity expected to occur in the future, taking into account earthquake data within a certain magnitude range that have occurred in the specified region in the past. After determining the seismicity, ground behavior analysis can be predicted by examining the ground characteristics of the region in question and calculating the ground amplification rates that the earthquake waves will show. Two types of earthquake hazard analysis can be performed: descriptive and probabilistic. Probabilistic earthquake hazard analysis was used within the scope of the study. While working on the seismicity and earthquake hazard analysis of Biga district within the scope of this thesis study; The social structure, geological situation, seismic activity and earthquake history of the district were taken into consideration. Earthquake history required for probabilistic seismic hazard analysis was mapped and attenuation relationships and ground amplification methods were determined. In the light of the data obtained, the seismicity and ground amplification rates of the district were determined. Seismicity and ground amplification rates were mapped and evaluated separately, and it was seen that the study area was exposed to seismic activity at an intensity above average and that attention should be paid to the ground. As a result, for the residential area, areas with the lowest ground amplification rates should be evaluated and, if possible, areas with low moment magnitude effects should be selected.
