Abstract (EN)

Plant water consumption, one of the factors considered in terms of agricultural irrigation, is directly affected by climate parameters. Over recent years, different views and scenarios about the change in climatic parameters have been mentioned frequently. In the intergovernmental panel on climate change in 2001, climate is defined in a narrow band to be average weather conditions. Over the last years, climate change, in the context of environmental policies, often refers to modern climate change, also known as global warming and also including an increase in mean surface temperature. The increase in temperature also increases the demand for water in all sectors. In especially agriculture sector, which is one of the sectors using the largest rate of water, in addition to the increase in irrigation water demand in the peak season, the inclusion of the irrigation water in the production pattern of the plants with high need for irrigation water increases pressure on the limited resource water more. Within the scope of the present thesis, it was examined whether there is any breakage in temperature and rainfall values measured in Çanakkale Province between 1937 and 2015 in the temperature series, especially the minimum and mean temperature values were subjected to Mann-Kendall rank correlation analysis, R-based RClimDex and RHTest analyses. It was determined as the result of the study that the statistically significant shift in these parameters was not detected but showed a slightly increasing trend. No changes and trends were determined in rainfall series in the same period. In other words, no evidence of any shift was determined to be statistically significant except for those in the so-called El Niño (hot events) and La Niña (normal or cold weather conditions) in the rainfall records. Depending on these results, problems faced in Çanakkale related to water are not caused by shifts in temperature and rainfall but present increase in demand and insufficiency and mistakes in water management.
