Integration of the Candaroglu Family into the Ottoman System: A Genealogy research on the principal family

This study focused on the integration process of the Candarogullari family members into the Ottoman administrative system. For this purpose, firstly the biographies about the members of the dynasty who lived in the XV.-XVI. Centuries have been written. These biographies consist of four main lines. These are the descendants of Isfendiyar Bey's sons, Ismail Bey, Kizil Ahmed Bey, and Mahmud Bey, who are the children of Ibrahim Bey and, Kasım Bey, the son of İsfendiyar Bey. Afterwards, the pious endowments established by the family were examined and the places where the family settled and their contributions to the vaqf culture were explained through these foundations. Thus, the processes of integration into the Ottoman administrative system through the foundations were explained by their foundations. The integration process includes the annexation of the principality, the exile of the dynasty, the processes of entering the bureaucracy of the members of the dynasty, the positions of the members of the dynasty in the Ottoman bureaucracy in the 16th century, the struggle of Sokollu Mehmed Pasha and Şemsi Ahmed Pasha during the reign of Selim II and Murad III, and finally the marriages of the dynasty. It is the first study that reveals the existence of a Muslim-Turkish principality family within the Ottoman ruling class through the Candarogullari family. On the other hand, it is the first, at least at the level of the doctoral thesis, to answer the question of what happened to the family after the political sovereignty of the principality families disappeared, Due to these two important features, the biography, foundations and XV-XVI. The transformation of the Ottoman administrative system in the centuries is discussed in this study.
