Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of the study is; ın the social media that Castells describes as a network society, to examine the sexist discourses used by individuals based on freedom of expression. In this study; In social media, which has turned into a public space, digitalization will examine how individuals use freedom of expression depending on the use of social media platforms. After the communication revolution took place, the world turned into a global village and created industrial mass societies. In modern times, also called the age of networks, everyday lives have become dependent on networks. In the first part of the study, the concept of network society and the concepts of transition from the mass society that emerged after the Industrial Revolution to the network society that emerged with the digital revolution process will be examined. In the second part, concepts such as social media, the rise of social media, communication and freedom of expression in social media will be examined. In the third part; Theories about sexist discourse will be examined. In this context, in order to examine how digital freedom of expression affects sexist discourse production in the research part of the thesis, tweets shared on Twitter with the label "like wife" and "like man" will be examined through content analysis method.
