Comparison of two risk assessment in steel foundry workplace

Abstract (EN)

The most important target of the Occupational Health and Safety Code number 6331 is to create a preventive approach model to monitor previously the risks and to make these accept. The preventive approach consists fırstly from education and risk analysis. The risk analysis is a proactive or reactive approach system applied in order to evaluate the risks and the dangers harmful in the work ambiance and to determine the measures. The risk analysis could be performed in two ways using qualitative or quantitative methods. Both methods could be also used together. In this work the risks which may occur in the steel foundries are evaluated with a proactive approach using the 5x5 Matrix method and the Fine Kinney method and the results of risks level are compared. With the detailed severity parameters and the additional frequency parameters the results obtained with the Fine Kinney method are more certain in order to evaluate the risk level and are suppling more detailed information. So the risks are more clearly understood compared to the 5x5 Matrix method.
