Regional analysis of negativity parameters for steel structures

It has become mandatory to use site-specific design spectra obtained by combining the local ground conditions specific to each geographical location and the seismicity of the region with the Turkish Building Earthquake Code, which entered into force on January 1, 2019. In this study, a randomly selected geographical location in nine city centres in the Southeastern Anatolia Region was chosen as an example, and it was tried to determine at what level the seismicity parameters and design spectra changed within the region. For this purpose, earthquake parameters and design spectra were obtained for each of the locations in the region selected as an example, taking into account five different local soil classes and four different earthquake ground motion levels in the current earthquake code, and the values found were compared for nine provinces. Structural analyses were carried out using adaptive static pushover analysis for a steel building selected as an example using the design spectra obtained for each province. Different negativity parameters were used in structural analysis. The results obtained by evaluating the design spectra together with the building negativity parameters: soft storey, hill-slope effect and number of storeys variables were examined. All earthquake parameter and structural analysis results obtained have different values within the region.
