Abstract (EN)
High ? Quality production depends just on the choice of proper metarial. Because, producting begins first by the choice of metarials that will be used. Considering that stell is the metarial mostly used in the machine production and construction industry, the choice of steel is extremely important. The knowledge of hardening depth and hardening ability enables the steel selection. Being cheap, easy and practical of the method that is used to determine the cepability of hardening will maintain it to be used extensively.In this study, the capability of hardening of steel in SAE/AISI 1030 and 4130, grain size? s effects were investigated. Jominy steel specimens were made and inorder to change the grain size of samples and test temperatures were selected as 900 ° C, 1000 °C, 1100 ° C, at 1200 ° C.After Jominy tests, the micro structures of the samples were attempted to characterize. As a result, in this study, the grain size increases with increasing temperature and also with increasing depth of quenching medium.Keywords: Jominy, quenching on one side, hardenability, grain size
