Evaluation of traditional and modern methods used in paddy production using the risk assessment method

It is thought that rice, which has been one of the basic nutrients for approximately 5000 years, will increase in importance when the population growth rate is taken into account. Paddy production is a difficult sector to work in using traditional methods and relying on manpower. Considering the increasing population and working difficulties, it has become important to use technological developments in paddy production that will increase productivity per unit area and reduce human labor. In this research, it was observed that there are producers who use modern methods in rice production in Kargı and Osmancık districts, which are our study region, as well as producers who still produce with traditional methods. It was thought that there may be differences between these methods in terms of production quality and productivity, as well as differences in occupational diseases and work accidents that farmers in the sector may experience, and these differences were determined with the help of the risk assessment method and it was tried to determine which method provides farmers with a better working environment in terms of Occupational Health and Safety. While carrying out this study, the production stages of the farmers were observed on site. Studies on Occupational Health and Safety in different agricultural fields and on issues related to the paddy production process were examined. Literature studies on these subjects are included in the research. The study is important in terms of both the regional importance of rice and the benefits it can provide to farmers and the fact that it is an original study.
