Matarial culture elements in Cem Sultan's Turkish Divan

While poets reflecting their feelings and poems into their poems, they give importance to the various characteristics of the period and society in which they live. When we analyze the poets of different periods, we see that they deal with similar subjects such as love, affection, anger, and reproach, but their behavior and material culture elements have changed. Therefore, in addition to historical documents, poems play an important role in recognizing and understanding a historical period. Divan literature, which is claimed to be a literature detached from the public and loaded with metaphors, also fulfills this function. Divan poetry; It is seen that information related to social life such as architectural structures, clothes, edibles, etc., in which material cultural elements coexist. This thesis study is about the Turkish Divan of Cem Sultan, who is one of 15th century divan poets. The study was based on Halil İbrahim Ersoylu's "Turkish Divan of Cem Sultan". Thesis; It consists of four main parts. These are "Stuff", "Architecture", "Food and Beverage" and "Geography". Material culture elements are divided into sub-headings according to their similarities and the elements mentioned in the divan under these sub-headings are listed alphabetically under these sub headings. After the explanation of each element, some example/examples are given from the couplets including these elements. The number of times the element was used in the divan, the phrases it formed were specified, and the context in the divan and what it was used for were explained. The aim of the study is identifying material culture elements in Cem Sultan's "Turkish Divan". However, considering that the family of Cem Sultan, who is the owner of the divan, can easily reach his parents to make sense of his poems, a brief introduction has been made about his life, literary information and works.
