Abstract (EN)

Companies have executive managers who create and manage the necessary strategies to advance within the scope of the relevant mission and vision of the company. The influence of managers, who are generally known as CEOs (Chief Executive Officer) but may also have the title General Manager, depending on the business, is of great importance to the company. 2020 issue of Brand Finance Turkey report, which publishes the most valuable and powerful brands of Turkey, examined the CEOs, financial statements and share values of the top 20 companies. Assuming that all other conditions were equal, the impact of relevant CEOs appointmented from inside or outside the firm, on the company's success has been studied. ROA (Return on Assets), ROE (Return on Equity) calculations and increase in the Borsa Istanbul share rates of each CEO for the related years have been determined. In addition, the number of CEOs appointed from inside and outside the company along with the periods during which CEOs remained in the company were also investigated. t-Test was performed on the data. Results were analyzed and in conclusion it was observed that compared between the appointment of CEOs from inside or outside the company had not much impact on the company's success and share value. It has been confirmed that, countries like Turkey where family businesses are in great number, critical decisions and achievements within the firm are perceived by the Board of Directors.
