Professionalism and Organizational Citizenship Behavior of Professional Nurses Surgery Objective: This research was planned as a descriptive study in order to determine the relationship between the professional values and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of nurses working in surgical clinics. The literature includes studies that investigate the professional qualities of nurses; however, there is a lack of studies examining the benefits of these qualities to the organization. Another factor that has been effective in addressing this issue is the lack of studies assessing both professionalism and OCB in healthcare institutions despite its significance for these institutions. Methods: The study was conducted at the surgery clinics of a university and two state hospitals in the province of Afyonkarahisar. The sample consisted of 145 nurses working in these institutions and volunteers who agreed to participate in the study. A 19-item questionnaire, the Nurses Professional Values Scale (NPVS) consisting of 36 items and the OCB Scale consisting of 24 items were used as data collection tools. The data obtained in this study by means of data collection tools were transferred to a computer and analyzed using "SPSS" statistical software package. In data analysis, frequency and percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, variance analysis (ANOVA), t-test, Pearson correlation analysis and regression model were used. For the interpretation of results, a significance level of 0.05 was taken as criterion. Results: The mean score on the NPVS was found to be 3.857 ± 0.585 and the mean score on the OVD was found to be 3.451 ± 0.581. As a result of the correlation analysis conducted, it was determined that the coefficients indicating the relationship between PVS and OCB subscales varied between r = 0.250 and r = 0.445. It was found that there was a statistically significant relationship between the total subscale scores on PVS and the total scores of OCB. Similarly, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the total scores of PVS and OCB (p <0.05). When the regression model regarding the relationship between PVS and OCB was analyzed, the relationship between PVS (0.442 ± 0.074) and OCB (1.748 ± 0.290) was found to be statistically significant (f = 35.80, p=0.000). It was seen that there was a positive relationship between PVS and OCB variables (r = 0.445). The determination coefficient (r2) was calculated to be 0.200 (20%) which demonstrated that professional values contributed to the OCB changes by 20%. Conclusion: According to the results obtained in the study, it was determined that the nurses possessed a moderate levesl of professional values and OCB. It was concluded that as the professional values of nurses increased, the OCB of moderate level also increased. Furthermore, it was seen that 20% of the change in OCB of nurses were dependent on professional values
