Abstract (EN)

Irbesartan is an angiotensin-II receptor antagonist and hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide-class diuretic. Use of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide combinations is quite common in the treatment of hypertension. The aim of this study is to develop a new, simple and sensitive method for the simultaneous analysis of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide, and to demonstrate the application of the method on pharmaceutical tablet and urine samples. Irbesartan, hydrochlorothiazide and agomelatine (internal standart) were analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography with diode aray detection. A reversed-phase analysis column (Chromolith® HR, RP-18e) with mobile phase and flow rate gradient programs were utilized in the analyses. The analytes were detected at 230 nm wavelength within 27.5 minutes. Urine samples were introduced in to the system with only filtration and dilution, without any pre-treatment steps. The developed method was successfully applied to pharmaceutical tablets and urinesamples. As a result, its applicability on the routine analyses of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide has been demonstrated.Key words: Irbesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, HPLC, pharmaceutical application, urine analysis
