The effect of various training methods on some biomotor and physiological characteristics of taekwondo players

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of various training methods on some biomotor and physiological characteristics of taekwondo athletes. In this study, which was carried out using an experimental model with a control group, the application was carried out with 3 different research groups. All of the research groups consist of competitive athletes who are actively licensed athletes in taekwondo in 2023 and reside in Trabzon. In determining the age groups of the participants, it was taken into account that they were competitors in the youth category (14-17 years old), where the most athletes participated in national/international tournaments. These groups were determined by random assignment as Experimental Group 1 (taekwondo-specific plyometric training), Experimental Group 2 (taekwondo-specific resistance tire training) and Control Group (taekwondo training). Before and after the 8-week training period applied to the relevant groups, 20 meter speed test, 5-10-5 agility test, vertical jump test, stork balance test, rast test, yoyo test, taekwondo kick frequency performance and taekwondo electronic vest kick tests were applied. After performing descriptive analyzes of the data obtained from the groups with SPSS (25th version) software, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for intra-group comparisons (pre-test-post-test) of the biomotor and physiological developments of the plyometric, resistance and control groups in the study, and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for inter-group comparisons of the pre- and post-tests of the groups. Kruskal Wallis test was used. In cases where the Kruskal Wallis test result was significant, Bonferroni corrected posthoc multiple comparison tests were used to determine which groups the difference was between. When the biomotor test results were examined, balance and flexibility parameters showed results in favor of the group training with taekwondo-specific resistance rubber. When the physiological test results were examined, max power, fatigue index, relative power and maxVo2 parameters showed results in favor of the plyometric training group. According to the results of examining the differences between groups in the electronic vest impact test, results were seen in favor of the group training with resistance rubber in the palding and yopchagi techniques, while the twist palding technique showed results in favor of the group doing plyometric training. In conclusion; While taekwondo-specific resistance band training was found to be effective for techniques in which direct and explosive kicks are made, plyometric training was found to be effective in more difficult athletic and rotating kicks.
