Investigation of apoptotic effect of boron compounds on neuroblastoma and glioma cancer cell lines using by in vitro methods

Abstract (EN)

Turkey has 72 % of the worlds boron reserves. The growing importance of boron reserves have been used in various fields. One of these, of course, researchs in field of health care that is promising in the treatment of the cancer.In this study, apoptotic effect of anhydrous borax, sodium perborate and potassium perborate on mouse neuroblastoma (NS20Y) and rat glioma(C6) cancer cell lines was analysed with ?in vitro? methods. The cytotoxic effects of boron compounds was investigated with the MTT (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) and the neutral red uptake assays. To apoptotic effects of boron compounds, activity activations of the caspase 3 and 8 enzymes was determined, changes in mitochondial membrane permeability and DNA fragmentations in nucleus were analysed.As a result, boron compounds that have been tested leads to apoptotic effects on NS20Y cell lines. On the other hands, each of the three boron compounds inhibited the proliferation of the C6 cell lines.
