Abstract (EN)
Cancer is a disease that deeply affects human life in many aspects such as physical, emotional, social and economic. It threatens human health as one of the most common health problems with a high mortality rate in Turkey and the world. While cancer is an increasing burden in both developed and developing countries, inequalities in early diagnosis and access to treatment pose a serious problem. Benzimidazole derivative compounds are of great importance in the fields of chemistry and biomedicine and exhibit remarkable biological properties in the drug development process. These compounds have many pharmacological effects and are considered as potential candidates in the treatment of various diseases. These metal complexes are promising in the anticancer drug development process. Studies conducted especially on MCF-7 and L929 cell lines reveal that these derivatives exhibit selective toxicity. These compounds have great potential in modern drug development processes. In this study, the cytotoxic effects of the synthesized nine benzimidazole derivative compounds on breast cancer cells (MCF-7) and healthy fibroblast cells (L929) were investigated by MTT and Trypan blue tests. The findings showed that some benzimidazole derivatives had high cytotoxicity on the MCF-7 cell line. Keywords: Breast cancer,Benzimidazole,Cytotoxic effect,Cancer
