Linguistic studies in algeria and Abdurrahman al-Haj Salih

This our thesis study deals with the linguistic studies in Algeria and the Algerian linguist Abdurrahman al-Hac Sâlih who made a name for himself with his modern Arabic linguistics studies in the 20th century. Abdurrahman al-Hâc Sâlih sees the classical period studies as a cornerstone for building authentic Arabic linguistics. His objective approach to Arabic syntax and Western-based studies is important both in terms of evaluating the Arabic heritage and shedding light on modern Arabic linguistic theories. In our study, the emergence of linguistics in Algeria, whose foundations were laid in the West, the view of Abdurrahman al-Hâc Sâlih, who is known as the father of linguists, to the phenomenon of language and his studies in this field are examined. In the first part of our research, the definition, subject, purpose, sub-branches of linguistics, the concepts used in the Arabic language for linguistics and linguistic studies in the Arab world are included. In the second part, information is given about the linguistic studies in Ottoman and Modern period Algeria, the leading linguists of Algeria and institutions operating on the Arabic language in Algeria. In the last part of our study, after giving information about Abdurrahman al-Hâc Sâlih's life, education, duties and responsibilities, students and works, his contribution to Arabic linguistics were tried to be revealed by considering his studies in the field of linguistics.
