China's relations with African countries within it's non-interference policy: The case of Sudan

China, the new rising global power of the World, has developed its relations with African countries in a relatively short time and by surpassing the USA, has become the number one trading partner of Africa. Africa is a huge continent home to almost one billion people and rich natural resources. This study aims to emphasize the strategic importance of the relations between China and African countries and furthermore to analyze the effect of China's "non-interference" policy on the development of relations by studying China-Sudan relations as an example case. In addition, this study also aims to analyze the factors that may affect or shape China's future practice of its "non-interference" policy in Africa. Accordingly, the development history of relations between China and Africa, the effect of China's "non-interference" policy on the relations, reactions to China's "non-interference" policy and factors that may shape the future of China's "non-interference" policy have been analyzed. This study examines the relationship between China and African countries from a "south-south" cooperation point of view. The study concludes that China has started to apply more flexibility in the practice of its "non-interference" policy, mostly due to its increasing interests in the continent and its desire to strengthen China's image as a global responsible super power.
