Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of serious game and interactive video supported training developed for parenteral drug administration training on psychomotor skills, perceived stress, satisfaction and confidence in learning of nursing students. Material and Method: The study was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental research model between June 2023 and June 2025 at Inonu University Faculty of Nursing. The population of the study consisted of the first-year students of the nursing department in the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, and the sample consisted of 90 students (number of students included in the groups considering the losses serious game group =33, video group =33 and control=33) determined by power analysis. "Psychomotor Skills Assessment Checklists", "Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students" and "Student Satisfaction and Confidence in Learning Scale" were used to collect the data. During the research process, the students in the experimental groups were trained on parenteral drug administration with serious game play and interactive video-assisted teaching for two weeks about drug preparation from ampoules and vials, IV catheter application and blood collection skills. Results: It was determined that serious game and interactive video supported training significantly increased the psychomotor skill development of the students compared to the control group (p<0.05). The perceived stress level of the students in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group (p<0.05). In addition, it was determined that the satisfaction and self-confidence levels of the students towards these active teaching methods were significantly higher than the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, it was determined that serious game and interactive video supported parenteral drug administration training positively affected the psychomotor skill development of nursing students, decreased their perceived stress, and increased their satisfaction and self-confidence in learning. In line with these results, it is recommended that the use of serious game-based applications should be expanded for the development of students and videos should continue to be actively used in education.
