Abstract (EN)

In the presented thesis study, the impact of overturning moment ratio on deformation based response quantities of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings with two way ribbed slab as well as the related criteria in the Turkish Seismic Code-2018 (TBDY-2018) were numerically incestigated. For this purpose, one RC shear wall-frame building with five story which has no irregularity and overturning moment ratio ensured the corresponding requirement (Σ𝑀𝑑𝑒𝑣≥0.75𝑀0) in the TBDY-2018, two shear wall-frame buildings consisting of shear wall and frames in high ductility level, and the overturning moment ratios were 0.60 and 0.45, lastly, one frame building in high ductility where no shear wall was placed in the structural system, were designed in accordance with all the principles in the TS-500 and TBDY-2018. After the meterial, section and member based force-deformation relationships were determined for each building system, the mathematical models of buildings were constituted with one dimensional element for the beam and columns and with the two dimensional shell element for the shear-walls. The nonlinear time history analyses of buildings were performed for the total of 11 real earthquake records which were scaled to comply with DD-2 earthquake level in TSC-2018. The analysis results were discussed in terms of story displacement demands, interstory drift demands, story shear demands, formations of plastic hinges over the structural system, plastic deformation demands in the members and performance levels. As a result of conducted study, the requirements with respect to the mixed ductility level required in the design of RC buildings with two-way ribbed slab lead to an overestimation of the response demands. It is though that considering the stipulated performance in the code objective, the selection of high ductility level for both shear walls and frames is adequate in the design of this type of RC buildings.
