In this study the design and experimental characterisation of a bidirectionally pumpeddouble-pass L-band EDFA is realized.First the performance parameters of the double-pass L-band EDFA designed are theoretically analyzed using Optiamplifier 4.0 simulation program.Then it is realised experimentally in laboratory environment and its gain and noiseperformances are characterized. It was shown that the double-pass design of L-Bandı EDFAthat its performance is compored with the theoretical simulation results and the experimentalperformance of a conventional single-pass L-EDFA design, have shown a significantimprovement in terms of gain, noise figure and pumping efficiency performances.Keywords: C-band EDFA, L-band EDFA, Erbium doped fiber, Erbium doped fiber amplifier,
