Analysing club ados method book in the context of interdisciplinarity in foreign language education

In this study, the role and limitations of the interdisciplinarity parts of the Club Ados A1 method book were examined in the context of listening, speaking, reading and writing, which are the basic language skills; sub-skills phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and culture, and their role and limitations in the development process in an integrity with different disciplines. Qualitative method, one of the scientific research methods, and document analysis model, one of the qualitative research designs, were used in the study. Club Ados A1 book, which was prepared for the target group aged 11-14 at A1 level based on action-oriented approach, consists of 6 units. At the end of each unit, linguistic activities that students can perform individually or in groups in accordance with the interdisciplinary approach model are presented under thematic topics. These thematic topics include Mathematics, Art, Life and Earth Sciences, Physical and Sports Education, Civic Education and Geography. When the interdisciplinary sections in the method book and the activities and mini-projects presented in these sections were analysed, it was seen that the relevant parts made significant contributions to the development of students' basic and complementary language skills in French and offered the opportunity to reinforce the gains obtained in different disciplines with an interdisciplinary approach in French lessons. According to the findings, it is possible to state that these activities play an important role in the development of learners' linguistic skills. However, the contents of the activities have limitations in terms of students' cognitive and social development. For this reason, activity suggestions that would also support students' cognitive and social development as well as their linguistic development were presented. While preparing these activity suggestions, the acquisitions in the curricula of the relevant disciplines were taken into consideration.
