Co and Ni electrodeposited nanotube structured TiO2 electrodes for hyrdogen production in fuel cells

Hydrogen is considered as energy of the future because it is clean, environmentally friendly and renewable, and it is an alternative to internal combustion engines in transportation with the use of fuel cell technology. In this study for hydrogen production, titanium dioxide nano structured electrodes are prepared with anodic oxidation method and Ni, Co and binary NiCo coatings are made with electrodeposition and hydrogen evolution behavior of prepared electrodes are investigated in basic medium. Surface characterization of electrodes was determined by SEM and CV techniques and catalytic activity was determined by using three electrode techniques from cathodic current-potential and Nyquist diagrams. Hydrogen gas volumes were measured by electrolysis using a constant 3 V potential for 30 minutes. According to obtained results, modification of Ti surface with titanium dioxide nanotube structured and with deposition of NiCo at the mole ratio of 2:8 for 10 mins, current density raised from 0,2 mA cm-2 to 71,7 mA cm-2 and polarization resistance declined from 843,8 Ω cm2 to 0,6 Ω cm2 at -1,35 V. As for hydrogen gas volumes raised from 25 mL cm-2 to 68 mL cm-2
