Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the views of mothers sending their children to pre-school institutions on the preschool education, and to determine if there were any differences in their views according to their age and educational background.The sample of this study was recruited from two independent preschools and two primary schools conveniently selected by the researcher. Data about mothers? ideas about pre-school education was gathered via a questionnaire developed by the researcher. While applying the questionnaire, first the school directors were visited and then the questionnaires were distributed to the teachers and they conveyed the questionnaires to the parents.SPSS 15.0 packet was used to analyze the data; percentages, frequencies, and chi square analyze were used. At the end of the study, it was found that; even if the mothers do not work, they send their children to pre-school education institutions, they believe pre-school education is necessary before starting to primary school, and they think that pre-school education contributes to children?s proximal development positively.Keywords; pre-school education, mothers? ideas, proximal development field
