Abstract (EN)
New styles of living and new values have arose due to rapid urbanization, migration and industrialization. Poverty, unemployment, parental illnesses, neglect and abuse towards children, breaking and separation of families which are results of the above reasons, leaded the increase in the number of children in need of protection day by day.The oldest care model for children in need of protection is institutional care which is being carried out by SHÇEK in our country. Numerous studies showed the negative impact of institutional care on children. As a result, family focused studies and studies on children in institutions being sent back to their families for care had been accelerated by changes in the policy and statute. By this means, a considerable amount of children had been returned back to their families. In this study; under the problems of families and children, children/youngsters between the ages of 13 and 18 who experienced care models had been comparatively analyzed in terms of their social, emotional, behavioral and psychological characteristics. The sample is composed of three groups of children who experienced three different care models. As a result of analyses of findings derived from the sample; it is determined that positive behaviors increase from institutional care to family care while psychological problems decrease; the ones who are under institutional care are happy with services and environment while other children are nervous and in unsteady state but however their future anxiety is low, the ones in a healty family environment manifests positive behaviors compared to others. In this respect, it is determined that a healty family environment is needed for children?s psycho-social development and precautions towards solving and preventing behavioral problems of children should be taken starting with the families. Besides, the importance of giving psycho-social support in solving families? economical and social problems had been confirmed with this study.Key Words: Family, Care Model, Protection Neediness, Institutional Care, Behavioral Problems.
