Abortion offence: TCK md. 99

The rapidly increasing population all over the world brings many political, economic and social issues to the agenda of humanity. Population policy has been of great importance in terms of researching these issues scientifically and shedding light on the measures to be taken by the state. On the one hand, the offence of abortion by one is punishable in order to protect the potential right to life of the fetus within the scope of human dignity, and on the other hand, in line with the population policy, to eliminate both the danger posed by illegal methods for unwanted pregnancies and the danger posed by abortion procedures to be carried out by unauthorized persons in order not to endanger the physical integrity and health of the woman. In this study, the offence of abortion by one in Article 99 of the Turkish Criminal Code has been compared with other similar crimes by making a crime analysis within the framework of its historical development.
