Children's literature and cultural symbols

Folk literature works are the primary and national sources for children's literature.Children's literature is areflection of the culture of a society.Turkish culture,folk literature and traditions which have been going on for centuries are transferred from generation to generation through children's literature.Turkish folk literature motifs offer a full field of study for children's literature.It is the shared values of a society that makes society.This thesis describes the historical development of children's literature in the world and in Turkey,the concept of cultural symbols,definitions, target audience of children's literature which is a part of Turkish folk literature and at the same time illustrated by the examples in literary products in children's literature.
