Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out in order to reveal the negative perceptions of secondary school 6th grade students towards the other and othering, and to eliminate this negativity. In the study, qualitative research method was adopted as a method and action research technique was employed. First of all, the application group and the control group were determined. A questionnaire and open-ended question form were applied in order to measure the perceptions of the determined groups regarding non-othering before the application. After the pre-questionnaire and open-ended question forms were applied, five children's books on non-othering were read to the application group. During the book reading process, a group focus interview was conducted for the interim control group. No application was made to the control group. After the application group completed the book reading process, the questionnaire and open-ended question form, which were applied at the beginning, were applied to both groups. As a result, the perceptions of non-othering in the application group and the control group were compared and the effect of children's literature products on non-othering was measured. Considering the people who had to leave the places where they lived as a result of wars, disasters and many negativities and who became the "other" in other places, it is thought that this study can be effective in solving an important problem of today, the problem of alienation.
