Investigating the future anxiety of children who needs protection in the context of children protection law: Case study in Afyonkarahisar

The oldest care model for children in need of protection widely accepted in our country such in rest of the world is the institutional care service which has been carried out by Turkish Social Service and Children Protection Institution for many years. Some studies have shown that institutional care affects children?s psycho-social, emotional and moral development negatively. By encouraging family-oriented studies in our country is aimed to strengthening the family which is the main element of our society.This study has been conducted by children in need of protection who are crime victims and who are initiated into a crime between the ages of 13 and 18 in Afyonkarahisar.The statistical analysis of the data derived from the study has shown that; the boarder children under the institutional care are pleased with the services they receive, they want to stay under the institutional care, the number of children desiring to return to their family is conspicuously low, they receive enough care and compassion under the institutional care, their future expectation is to have a happy family, they are afraid of being unsuccessful in making their way in the world.In this context, it is understood that the functional family is important for the children?s psycho-social, emotional, and moral development and it is primarily needed to protect family integrity in order to reduce the number of children who are crime victims and who are initiated into a crime and to reintegrate them into the society. This study has indicated the necessity of resolving the family?s and the family members? psychological, social, and economical problems as soon as possible for the protection of family integrity.Key Words: Child Protection System, Child In Need Of Protection, Future Anxiety, Institutional Care.
