The effect of children songs on the speech disorders of the autistic children

Abstract (EN)

In this research, the treatment and education of autistic children with speech disorders were accompanied by the question of whether or not children's songs could be supported in this process. In order to understand how children's songs would affet the speech disorders of the chidren with autism, two children were studied as one-to-one at OÇEM, the special school for autistic children in Kütahya. The research covered a period of five sessions. In the music study conducted with randomly selected children, the songs and accompanied rhythms and plays on the tables were applied. Signs (+) and (-) were used for expected behaviors according to the child's level of performance. Because of the fact that the researcher was not always with the selected children at times outside the study, it was seen as a solution to take parents' and teachers' help in observing changes in their speech. Also interviews involving their ideas were included in the research. The answers given by the researcher to the questions were tabulated and evaluated separately from the children's observation charts. As a result of this research, it was concluded that children's songs could be a supportive practice in the education of autistic children with speech disorders. However, it has been found that the genetic, physical and environmental factors that cause speech disorders thereupatic treatment.
