Özet (EN)
This research was carried out to determine the effect of trainig on pain management in nurses working in pediatric clinics. The sample of this experimental study consisted of 90 nurses working in the pediatric clinics of the hospitals in Zonguldak Province. Data has been collected with The Personal Information Form through the Data Collection Form, which evaluates the impact of the training. There was no significant difference between the knowledge point averages of the nurses in the intervention and control groups before the training program given to the nurses working in pediatric clinics (first measurement) (p=0.265; p˃0.05¬). However, a statistically significant difference was found between the mean scores of the intervention group in the second measurement (p=0.009; p <0.01) and the third measurement (p=0.001; p <0.01) after five weeks. When the changes in the mean scores of the nurses in the intervention and control groups over time are analyzed, the nurses in the intervention group; the first measurement information scores were lower than the second and third measurement information scores, and the difference was statistically significant (p=0.007; p <0.01). In the research, it was determined that the nurses working in pediatric clinic did not have sufficient pain assessment information in children, they were not sufficient to use the information in the field, and they did not receive training at the school related to pain assessment. Consequently, in line with this result, it can be suggested that nurses working in pediatric clinicsshould be given periodic training on pain assessmentin children and the scales used in pain assessment should be actively used in the light of scientific literature.
