In Pediatric Surgical Interventions, The Effect Of Informing On Anxiety Levels OfMothers.This study has been planned semi-empirically for ambulatory surgical operations to examinethe effects of preoperative informing on the mother?s anxiety level.This study was carried out between November, 2005 and May, 2006, creating 50control and 50 study groups of mothers from Eskişehir Osmangazi University MedicalSchool Department of Pediatric Surgery and Otolaryngology and Afyonkarahisar KocatepeUniversity Medical Faculty Department of Pediatric Surgery. Improbable sampling was usedfor investigation.Data were gathered from `Family and Child Information Form? which was preparedby researchers and developed by Spilberger et al and State Trait Anxiety Inventory which isproved to be reliable and valid was also used.Analysis of data was performed by SPSS 13.00 pack program. In statistical evaluationpercentage, khi square, the importance test of the difference between two averages (t test),ANOVA (Variance analysis) and Posthoc tukey HSD test in advanced evaluation were used.Mothers, whose children were planed to be operated, were put into two groups thatwere control and study group. Individuals in study group who were informed face to face inthe morning just before operation were found to have less anxiety level than control group.Mothers in the study group were also in better state anxiety level in the morningpreoperatively.
