A descriptive research on parents who prefer sending their children to i̇mam hatip middle schools

The aim of this study is to make a descriptive research on the parents who prefer sending their children to İmam Hatip Middle Schools. It is also aimed in this study to find out the social profile of the parents, their expectations from school and the reasons why they send their children to these schools which already have over 700 thousand students today. This study is a qualitative research. The Population of this research is parents of 40 students who live in 4 different neighbourhoods in Çorum city centre and study 4 different İmam Hatip Middle Schools. The parents are 20 mothers and 20 fathers. Semi-structured interview method is preferred in this research. During the interviews parents were assured about safety of their personal information to make them express themselves easily and in a comfort. All the data from these interviews were studied according to their titles and used by using quotations where needed. This study consists of 5 chapters. The first chapter deals with the main problem, aim, importance, limitedness of the study and the other studies made on this subject. The second chapter deals with the method of the research, sampling , data collection and analysis of the data .The third chapter , to make the study more understandable , deals with the student population during the years and the history of İmam Hatip Schools.In the forth chapter the study reveals the findings and these findings are analysed in a detailed way. The fifth chapter consists of the result of the study and the recommendations. According to the findings which have been obtained by means of our study, we conclude that parents who send their children to İmam Hatip Schools want their children to learn the Holy Quran and to be a person who gives importance to his/her religious life , moral values and religious responsibilities.
