Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effects of childhood traumas on early maladaptive schemes and coping styles were investigated. In addition, the relationship between early incompatible schema areas and styles of coping with stress has been revealed. The sample of the study consists of 430 participants (330 females, 100 males) residing in Istanbul between the ages of 18-61 (Mode= 18-28 years). Data were collected through self-report questionnaires. Childhood Trauma Scale (Şar ve diğerleri, 2012), Young Schema Short Form-3(Soygüt, Karaosmanoğlu, Çakır, 2009), Stress Coping Styles Scale (Şahin, Durak, 1995) were used in this study. Research results have shown that the early stages of childhood trauma affects incompatible schemes. However, when looking at the impact of childhood trauma stress coping styles were found to be less of an effect. In addition, it was stated in this study that there was a relationship between early maladaptive schemes and stress coping style. In the light of these findings, the results are discussed considering alternative explanations. The findings of the study were discussed and alternative explanations were made in the light of related studies in the literature. Also in this study, clinical applications, limitations and suggestions are presented for further research.
