Abstract (EN)

This research was done to find out the opinions of teachers and students about the GEMS-based learning activities in teaching Geography. The study conducted with qualitative research approach is performed special case study. Lesson plans developed from research methodology were implemented to Trabzon BİLSEM. After the implementation, teachers' and students' opinions were taken using semi-structured interview forms. At this stage, statements in the forms were grouped according to similarities and categories. Of the research participants in Trabzon BİLSEM, a group of six teacher sand 21 students was created. In the spring semester of the 2015-2016 academic year, the application was tested for four weeks. The study's findings revealed that the implementation of GEMS has a positive impact on teachers and students. According to the teachers, the application is useful, level-appropriate, motivating, understandable, and enhances the learning experience. According to the students, the application is enjoyable, user-friendly, allows trial and error, and improves students' attitude towards nature. Based on these findings, GEMS can be an effective tool in teaching geography. The knowledge and implementation of GEMS should be spread accordingly.
