Abstract (EN)
Our country lies in ?Mediterranean-Alp-Himalaya? seismic belt, where there are active seismic movements. Therefore, it is exposed to severe earthquakes most of the time. In the countries with severe earthquake risk, buildings must be designed resistant to earthquakes and in a way to minimize earthquake damages. In our country, the minimum requirements for the earthquake resistant design and construction of buildings and building-like of structures or their parts subjected to earthquake ground motion have been given with ?Specification for Structures to be built in Disaster Areas?. Like in all countries, seismic code in our country has changed in due course. The new seismic code has removed the existing code in force and has covered the changes and developments in earthquake and structure areas. In this paper, 1975 Turkish Seismic Code (Old Code) and the 2007 Turkish Seismic Code (Last Code) were compared with each other. It was seen that the main difference is in the calculation of total equivalent seismic load acting on the building needed in the determination of the ending moments of column. Because of this main difference, cross section area of the columns has become large in the last seismic code.As part of investigation, The buildings those who received heavy damage in Marmara Earthquake in 17 Agust 1999, they have been solved according to earthquake 1975 regulation and they have been investigated according to earthquake 2007 regulation.
