Özet (EN)

Cosmic ray showers are originated in the upper atmosphere by the energetic protons and other particles from outer space. The showers mainly consist of hadronic (pions, muons, etc. . . ) and electromagnetic (electrons, positrons, photons, etc. . . ) components with different energies and moving in different directions. It is a very important scientific issue to detect these showering particles at Earth?s surface. Moreover, subjects such as the measurement of these particles on very-large scales, the studies on cosmic muon flux and its affects on our electronics systems are also important issues.In addition, the preliminary test results of the prototype detector, working at Sphinx Observatory Center-Jungfraujoch (3600 m a.s.l.)-Switzerland is presented in this thesis. This prototype detector is designed to measure a large angles cosmic rays emerging from the Earth crust. This station provides us an opportunity to understand if the prototype detector works safely (or not), under hard environmental conditions (average air pressure is about 653.3 mbar, and the air temperature is changing between ?37 C and + 10 C). The station consist of two towers includes four scintillation counters. The new electronics systems (i.e., DRS4 Board, Trigger Board) and the data acquisition software programs have been also tested. In addition, particle identification capability of the prototype have been simulated with GEANT4 program based on Monte Carlo package. This kind of detector will be part of a large area (several square kilometer) surface array designed to measure Ultra High Energy (UHE) (0.01-100 EeV) neutrinos by using the Earth Skimming strategy. The prototype detector is capable of discriminating the direction of the particles (up/down) by using Time of Flight technique. The results presented in this thesis is the first attempt to carry out the analysis of the 38.083 days (914 hours) data with a new setup. Bu tür dedektör, ?Earth Skimming? statejisini kullanarak ?çok yüksek enerjili (0.01-100 EeV) tau nötrinolarını ölçmek için tasarlanan geniş yüzey alanına (birkaç kilometre kare) sahip dedektör dizinin bir parçası olacaktır.
