Abstract (EN)

Hospital-acquired infections, particularly those caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are considered a global health threat. This study examines the prevalence and risk factors of Multidrug-Resistant (MDR) P. aeruginosa infections using clinical samples collected from patients admitted to Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Training and Research Hospital between 2019 and 2024. This study identified that conditions weakening the immune system, such as diabetes mellitus, significantly increase the risk of infection. Variations in hemoglobin, albumin, creatinine, INR, fibrinogen, urea, and lactate levels emerged as critical factors influencing infection risk. For managing MDR P. aeruginosa infections, it is recommended that hospitals conduct regular antibiotic susceptibility tests and use antipseudomonal antibiotics judiciously. In conclusion, implementing infection control measures and developing new antibiotics are crucial for effectively combating these infections.
