Abstract (EN)
Aim: Our aim in this study is to compare the compatibility of the scanned computed tomography (Brain CT-Cervical CT-Thorax CT-Abdominal CT) images of the patients with multiple trauma admitted to the emergency department of our hospital with the radiology report of the image evaluation made by the emergency medicine residents. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted with the imaging of 150 multiple trauma patients who were admitted in the Emergency Department of Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Hospital in a one-year period. The official interpretation and emergency medical assistant comments of the patients' Brain CT-Cervical CT-Thorax CT-Abdominal CTs were compared. The accuracy rate, kappa coefficient, specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) between the two groups were calculated. The data were recorded in SPSS version 22 and analyzed. Results: It was found that the accuracy rate in brain CT was 96% (kappa: 0.920), the accuracy rate in cervical CT was 96.7% (kappa: 0.882), the accuracy rate in thoracic CT was 96.6% (kappa: 0.926), and the accuracy rate in abdominal CT 96.6% (kappa: 0.919). In our study, it was found that the accuracy rate in the interpretation of all CTs was 96% and the kappa value was 0.764 (specificity: 97.1%, sensitivity: 84.6%, PPD: 98.5%, NPD: 73.3%). In our study, the similarity in the evaluation of emergency medicine assistant and radiologists in brain, cervical, thoracic and abdominal CTs was similarly significant (p <0.05). Conclusion: There is a high consistency between the comments of emergency medicine assistant and radiologists in CTs taken in emergency rooms. We believe that this situation will shorten the process of clinical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
