Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY The Effect of Multiple Intelligences Theory Based Guide Materials on Chemistry Achievement In this study, Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory based guide materials for teaching the subject of "Atom Models and its structure" in high school chemistry were developed, implemented and evaluated. In the study, a quasi-experimental method was used. In the experimental group, the researcher carried out the lessons with MI based materials. In the control group, classroom teacher used his own traditional method. The study was carried out in two classrooms with 70 students in a super lycee in 2004 Spring mid-term. The data was collected by using "Atom Models and its Structure Achievement Test", Multiple Intelligences-self Assessment Inventory (MISAI) for students, student interviews, students' folders and observation. In this study "achievement test" and MISAI for students were applied as pretest and post-test to reveal students' progress. As analyzing the data, independed- sample t-test and one-sample t-test were used. In the pre-tests of the achievement test, a significant difference was found at 0,05 level in favor of control group but in the post-tests there was no significant difference between the groups. When the results of MISAI for students assessed within groups, there was a significant difference in both the groups. In the control group, significant differences were found in terms of students' linguistic, visual-spatial, musical and kinesthetic intelligences in favor of post-test of inventory while in the experimental group, it was only on kinesthetic intelligence in favor of post-test of inventory. After all, since the beginning achievement level of experimental group's students were quite low than the control groups' and academic improvement level of the experimental group students enhanced more than control groups', it was concluded that experimental group improved with the guide materials better than the control group did with the teacher's own method. The study was completed with some suggestions for researchers and educators. Keywords; Chemistry Education, MI Theory, Guide Material, Chemistry Achievement VII
