Abstract (EN)
Celiac disease is defined as an autoimmune reaction to a protein called gluten. There is a strong relationship between nutritional practices and psychosocial status in celiac patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of adaptation of celliac disease to children, adolescents and adult patients admitted to İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine and to determine the relationship between level of gluten free diet and quality of life. 84 voluntary individuals participated in the study. Participants' Celiac Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire were administered. The study found that the general number of gluten containing foods consumed by the patients and number of gluten containing foods over the last 2 weeks, the presence of celiac disease in their families, the educational status, the number of celiacs the individual knows are closely related to the quality of life. These variables were significantly associated with emotional states such as self-restricted feelings of health, depressive feeling, and inadequate treatment High quality of life in patients taking a gluten-free diet will facilitate adaptation to the diet, but if the applied diet reduces the quality of life, the risk of escapade in the diet may increase. Assesment of patients' adaptation to the gluten free diet and their quality of life have huge importance.
