60'lı yıllarda Fransa ve Türkiye'de kadın durumu: Annie Ernaux'nun Olay (L'événement) ve Leyla Erbil'in tuhaf Bir Kadın (Une Drôle De Femme) eserlerinin karşılaştırmalı okuması

This thesis examines the condition of women in 60s in France and Turkey through a comparative analysis of Happening of Annie Ernaux and A Funny Woman by Leyla Erbil. The years 60's is distinguished by the social and political movements which favor emancipation of women particularly through legalization of contraception and debates on abortion. In Happening Ernaux portrays her clandestine abortion experience, reflecting the challenges and signs with which women are confronted in a society in complete transformation. Similarly, Turkey of 60's situated on the crossroads of modernization and the traditions. A Funny Woman explores the patriarchal pressures and social constraints weighing upon the woman, illustrating all their struggle for their autonomy and self-estimation. Even though the cultural context of two countries differs from each other, the works reveal common themes such as struggle for identity, sexuality and for the autonomy. These stories present us an enriching perspective on similarities and differences of feminine experiences in France and in Turkey, emphasizing the importance of historical and socio-cultural contextualization in the analysis of the condition of woman.
