Abstract (EN)

The textile industry is continuously advancing both globally and in Turkey, with its production capacity increasing steadily over time. The wastewater generated post-production varies based on the processes and chemicals used in production, with typical characteristics of textile industry wastewater being colored, high in organic content, and resistant to biological degradation. In this thesis, the treatability of wastewater from sock dyeing processes obtained from a textile factory was investigated through Fenton and electro-Fenton processes. The treatability of textile industry wastewater is evaluated by examining color and COD removal efficiencies. In the Fenton process, the effects of parameters such as time, Fe+2 concentration, and H2O2 concentration are studied, while in the electro-Fenton process, the effects of parameters such as time, voltage, H2O2 concentration, and the distance between electrodes are examined. The study using the Fenton process resulted in a 96% COD removal under optimum conditions, with a color removal efficiency of 75%. In the electro-Fenton process, a COD removal efficiency of 97-99% was achieved, accompanied by a color removal efficiency of 85%. While the Fenton process demonstrated high COD removal, color removal was relatively low, whereas the electro-Fenton process achieved higher efficiencies in both color and COD removal.
