The correlations of disgust sensivity and obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms with some related sociodemographic variables in cases of vaginismus

Topics related to vaginismus cases have been the subject of many research studies. Based on existing research, it has been observed that patients with "Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder " (OCD) have low sexual satisfaction. There are also a considerable number of individuals with OCD symptoms in our country. Research has shown that there are many factors affecting the sexual lives of patients diagnosed with vaginismus, such as anxiety and depression.This research has several research questions; hypotheses were formulated based on demographic data of women diagnosed with vaginismus. Secondly, it is expected that individuals diagnosed with vaginismus will have greater degree of OCD symptoms (above 18 points according to the Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory). Another hypothesis is that individuals with higher levels of "OCD symptoms"will also have increased level of disgust sensitivity. Can the high disgust sensitivity of patients diagnosed with vaginismus be another factor affecting their sexual lives? Similarly, can the presence of OCD symptoms in individuals with vaginismus also affect their sexual lives? This study is a quantitative study designed to investigate correlations and data will be collected through a questionnaire. The questionnaires were administered to 40 women diagnosed with vaginismus, aged between 18 and 70, evaluated by the same psychiatrist at Yeditepe University Hospital. The surveys were applied to women who applied to Yeditepe University sexual dysfunction clinic and were diagnosed with vaginismus."The Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory " (MOCI) was used to measure OCD symptoms, while the " Disgust Scale- Revised Form "(DS-R) was used to measure disgust sensitivity. According to normality analyses, the data in this study were not normally distributed and an analysis was made accordingly. According to the data collected in this study, significant relationships were found between OCD and disgust sensitivity. OCD scores were above 18 in more than half of the 40 participants. Although most results in this study are parallel to previous studies, there are differences in some of the results regarding demographic data.
