Reaserch on sequestration for deriner dam on river Çoruh: Example Zeytinlik village

While performing large investment project such as dams and roads, it is very important to investigate the effects such as water, soil, vegetation. Also it has crucial importance to study population to be displaced due to expropriation and problems faced by establishing a new point of life. In this study, it is aimed to examine expropriation studies on Deriner Dam which is one of the dams still ongoing construction on Çoruh River and to expose effects on population. It is also aimed to examine the structure of land and property in the region during the role of the expropriation process.To this purpose, Zeytinlik Village one of the three villages, which all will be under the waters of the Deriner Dam, is selected as an example. Zeytinlik Village owns 1080 of 8088 parcels which is affected by the dam.In order to determine how selected Zeytinlik Village is affected by the shape and size of the expropriation process, the results of the evaluation survey, which is carried out 70% of families living in the village, was evaluated with information and documents provided by 26th region of DSI Çoruh Projects and Artvin Cadastre department. In this evaluation survey, due to the small (under 87,5% of acre) and shareholding parcels in the village especially citizens do not satisfied the price getting from expropriation and therefore, almost all of citizens (98%) are objected to the price. Another important result that while distributing expropriated parcels prices, owners and shareholders are taken based on the deed records.Thus women, like men, had obtained the opportunity to receive the rights. İn addition to these results, 69% of families surveyed demands that to be shown an equivalent area instead of price.Key words: Dams, Çoruh River, Expropriation, Zeytinlik Village, Artvin.
