The wooden minbars, desks and gates in Çorum masques which Belongs to Ottomon and Seljuq Periods

The purpose of the thesis, "The Wooden Minbars, Desks And Gates in Corum Masques Which Belongs To Ottomon And Seljuq Periods", is to bring the works of art of the Seljuks, Beyliks and Ottoman Empire into light and introduce them to the academic world to set example for the future generations. The investigations have been conducted in the mosques in the central town of the city, Corum. The study includes mosques, which were built within the dates of 1075 and 1920; the mosques, which were demolished and rebuilt within the stated years, are also included in the study. Muzaffer Pasha Mosque which is currently not in use and protected by the museum is also covered within the study. The studies about Corum and its history in most cases encompass the City's political and economical history. There has been architectural studies about hamams and mansions but there are not enough in-depth studies that consist of the mosques and masjıds. This study aims to unearth the works of wooden art from the Seljuk and Ottoman period and remedy the lack of studies in the field in Corum. The mosques which was investigated has been determined based on the results of local and national literature review. The works of art, which has been found as a result of the investigation, have been photographed, measured and their technical image was constructed. The image construction has been drawn from general to specific. The plans, front and side profile and the decorative patterns have been drawn in detail. Their styles, construction and decorative qualities have been introduced and cross examined. There have been twelve mosques, ten minbars, nine gates, and two stands have been investigated for this study. In conclusion, there have been found more works of art found in Corum than expected and they have been reviewed and documented. The detailed technical drawings of the worls which had been lacking previouly have been accomplished. Keywords: Çorum, mosque, wooden, minbar, stand, door panels
