Examination of the anxiety and depression levels of the relatives of patients with COVID-19

This research aims to examine the anxiety and depression levels of the relatives of patients with COVID-19. The research was carried out from the 20th of january to the 25th february, 2021, with 211 female and 219 male a total of 430 people residing in Kayseri and agreeing to participate. The data of the research was completed by delivering the forms and scales filled on the internet to the participants. Sociodemographic Information Form, Beck Depression Inventory, and Beck Anxiety Inventory were administered to the participants, respectively, and the data obtained from these scales were analyzed with the SPSS program. It is obtained the anxiety levels of the relatives of COVID-19 patients were higher than those who do not have a relative with COVID-19. When the depression level of the relatives of COVID-19 patients and those who do not have a relative with COVID-19 are examined, no statistically significant difference was found. It was determined that the anxiety levels of the relatives of the patients who spent the treatment process as an inpatient were higher than the relatives of the patients who were treated without hospitalization. When the depression levels of the relatives of the patients who were hospitalized during the COVID-19 treatment process and the depression levels of the relatives of the patients who were treated without hospitalization were examined, no statistically significant difference was found.
